1. Individual + Couple + Family Psychotherapy
More often than not, it can feel futile that despite our efforts, we keep repeating patterns and not much changes. This may be an opportunity to approach it differently.
And, or to get support to deal with life’s challenges. When our capacity is diminished – we are less able to care for ourselves, those we care about, our local and global community and environment.
Engaging in psychotherapy aims to increase awareness and capacity to respond to life’s challenges – creatively and compassionately – within a confidential space.

Existential Mindful Self-Compassion Approach.
The Existential approach is curious, playful and attentive about the human condition – about our evolving relationship with ourselves, with others and our community/ world.
Derived from Existential Philosophy, this philosophical approach focuses on our unique experiences in shifting contexts – and the choices we make that shape and create our lives.
It is concerned with our embodied and ethical relatedness to ourselves and others – emphasising our personal choice and responsibility; acknowledging anxiety as part of the human condition; and promoting alignment to our values to live authentically.
The approach is interested in increasing our capacity, in our process of becoming – an optimistic approach that simultaneously embraces the possibilities and limitations of being human.
“A person’s life is dyed with the colour of his imagination.” Marcus Aurelius
Existential Psychotherapy aims to bring lasting changes rather than symptom management.
Mindful self-compassion is the practice of attending to our feelings without judgement and responding with kindness when we suffer.
When we are kind to ourselves; we have more capacity to be kind to others.
The evidence indicates that compassionate responses are consistently linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression; higher ability to self-soothe when stressed; greater emotional intelligence; improved relationship functioning and positive health behaviours.
Researchers found that increases in self-compassion were associated with decreased negative emotions of self-loathing, worthlessness and shame and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms.
When we are self-compassionate, our worth is unconditional.
If you have the chance to be exposed to a loving, understanding environment where the seed of compassion, loving kindness, can be watered every day, then you become a more loving person. Thich Nhat Hanh

I was incredibly lucky to have Jonelle as a manager at Relationships Australia where I had the opportunity to learn from her in a safe and supported environment. I was immediately impressed with her warmth, knowledge and dedication.
She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in her position and she always provided insightful feedback and instructions. The knowledge and insight she has shared with me have been invaluable in my professional life.
In my supervision sessions with Jonelle she had the intuition, the kindness and the skills to guide me through the delivery of a program aimed at assisting those impacted by trauma. She at all times showed empathy, professionalism and integrity. Her patience and willingness to listen made me feel heard and respected.
Jonelle is smart, funny and cares about her colleagues. While only working with Jonelle for a short time, the impact she has had on me has continued to influence both my professional and personal life.

Jonelle is a consummate professional who was both my manager and supervisor. In these roles she maintained a seamless balance between warmth, relaxed openness and tenacious encouragement, reinforcing personal exploration and reflection to extend me beyond my comfort zone into genuine development.
Jonelle demonstrated a wealth of experience and depth of therapeutic knowledge by attending to dynamic, in moment experiences. She readily provided avenues for further research and extension, and would meticulously follow through with any statement she made.
Her thoughtful and considerate approach within both roles supported the professional relationship and allowed for a real felt sense of connectedness and inclusion despite significant geographical distance.
Jonelle’s commitment to encourage bilateral learning showed her respect for the skills and knowledge I held and affirmed to me the very characteristics of a true mentor.
